Spotlight On One Of My Jewelry Styles (Copy)

The inspirations for my creations come from quite a few places, but always flows from my heart.

The Pacific Northwest is one of those places.

Before the ranching lifestyle took over and I became immersed in Western and Southwestern style, I grew up in Washington State.

I spent time with the Yakama people who graciously and generously shared their rich culture with me. Surrounded by their deep history gave me a passionate interest in learning the history of the Northwest Tribes. To this day it influences and inspires me in my bead and jewelry designs to celebrate their lifestyle, customs and beliefs.

The pieces below are just two examples of this:

“Prosperity”

The intricate tapestry beadwork I create for my pendants was taught to me by the elder women of the Yakama Indian Tribe.

The design of this piece was influenced by a beaver totem.  The Beaver is believed to be a symbol of Prosperity by many North American Tribes.

Made with copper and lapadorite beads. Focal beadwork approx 4 inches by 3 inches, the display bar is handmade copper. Can be worn with the tapestry beadwork, or the neck piece can be worn alone.

“Spirits”

This piece was inspired by spending time learning about the Northwest Tribes of the USA.

Their Totem Poles read like history from the past.

Created in Sterling Silver with a Green Jade totem. Approx size 2 1/2 inches long from top of bail by 1/2 inch wide. Hangs from a 18 inch ladder style chain.
